by the obamas administration. i do not know if you suggest it, but you said straight out that the obama administration had manipulated it. then you change your tune a little bit. what usually happens over time is that some of these things even out. we are unlikely to see another sharp drop-off in the unemployment rate. another issue that appears to be true is that we are near a low level of people in terms of those participating in the work force. and it went up last month, but it is near a 30-year low. there are still aspects of the job market that are still weak. the unemployment rate is still obviously very high. he had a lot of interesting things to say, but the "wall street journal", it was a bit different from the tweet he put out. host: mr. nardone, what is the bls response to what jack welch wrote? guest: the response to the idea that somebody in the white house called us up and told us that the unemployment rate needed to be 7.8%, that is simply not true. it did not happened. if it did happen, the folks that work on these numbers, they would be the ones the sending out a tweet.

that they're pounding the romney campaign on libya right now? the whole issue of the obama administration and libya as opposed to focusing in on issue number one, the economy? >> i think they're going to try and do both. i think the reason they're pounding at the libya issue is that they think there's an opening there. they found a chink in the armor. mitt romney right now is kind of tied with the president in the last poll we looked at on the leadership issue. they want to get an advantage. what they're trying to say and what joe biden said yesterday, if he didn't know, he should have known. the buck stops there. this is a question of who's in charge. what we did hear at the state department hearing is that there is an explanation for this from the state department which is they felt they wanted the libyans to take charge of their own security. and of course the president and the vice president are not involved in every security matter when it comes to embassies. but this being a political year, mitt romney is saying, you know what, by implication if i were president, i would have known

the obama administration. what do you make of this, chris? >> well, you're exactly right. obama had a bad first debate and you don't want to have two bad debates in a row. i don't think that biden will. you know, it's interesting, i interviewed paul ryan last week and talked to him about, about biden and i said what do you think of biden? you've been studying him obviously and prepping for him. he said, look, he's a very experienced guy and been in this for 40 years and you're not going to throw him off his game. and i said, yeah, how about the gaffes? he says he makes those in exte extempraneous on the stump and i don't think that he was spinning me, a strong determined biden. what's fascinating is the contrast between these guys, an old school liberal in the case of biden and a young gun conservative in the case of paul ryan and i mean, these guys couldn't be further apart in their outlook on the government and what they think are the solutions for the country over the next four years. >> and the way they speak, too, right, guys? and paul ryan we talking to huckabee, does paul ryan run
